USI chooses Mujumdar as Dean of Romain College of Business

Dr. Sudesh Mujumdar has accepted the position of Dean of Romain College of Business at the University of Southern Indiana. The announcement was made on Thursday 16 June by the Provost of USI Dr. Mohammed Khayum and is effective from 25 July 2022. Mujumdar will succeed Dr. Cathy Carey, who held the position from July 2019 to October 2021, and al Dr. Brian McGuire, Professor of Accounting, who served as interim Dean starting November 2021.

“Leading the change was a primary responsibility for Dr. Mujumdar in his role as dean,” says Khayum. “His recent successes demonstrate his ability to recognize opportunities for synergy and integration in the strategic positioning of a college of business. I expect Dr. Mujumdar’s experience and leadership will serve to strengthen the Romain College of Business brand and enhance USI’s ability to deliver exceptional educational experiences. “

Mujumdar has been Dean of the College of Business Administration at Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia since September 2019. As Dean, he successfully led the College in its AACSB accreditation extension and secured over $ 4 million. in grants and financing from private donors. He also successfully spearheaded the inclusion of Savannah State University as a partner institution in Bank of America’s $ 1 billion initiative to expand economic opportunity and social justice.

Through a consultative and inclusive process, Mujumdar strategically positioned the College for enrollment growth and impact, forging partnerships and relationships with commercial organizations such as Gulfstream and PricewaterhouseCoopers, various city and state government offices, the Texas Human Behavior Laboratory. A&M and the Avatar Lab at Bagwell College of Education (Kennesaw State University), shaping brand identity and visibility.

As Dean and Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, Mujumdar co-directed the creation of market-leading innovative programs and the first ever undergraduate degree program in data analytics that builds on skills. from multiple disciplines, including business, liberal arts, science, and engineering.

Prior to his tenure at Savannah State University, Mujumdar was chair of the economics and marketing department at USI’s Romain College of Business, where he led the innovative rethinking of programs and initiatives for enrollment growth and community impact. fostering a supportive and stimulating work environment.

Mujumdar holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Bombay and a master’s and doctoral degrees in economics from the University of Cincinnati. He also completed the negotiation and leadership program at Harvard Law School. His research has been featured in top journals and he has lent his professional experience to collaborate with a variety of organizations including Kimball and Holiday World, mayors of various cities and state government agencies, as well as international entities. Mujumdar has also appeared in various media such as The New York Times, Fox, ABC And CBS affiliates to assess a wide range of business and economic issues.

Romain College of Business, one of USI’s four colleges, is AACSB accredited for both its undergraduate and graduate programs in economics and accounting, a distinction shared only by select accredited institutions.
