MUSIC: Invitation to the choir
The Top of the Rock choirin its sixtieth year as a chapter of Sweet Adelines, invites women of all ages to a membership event from 7:00 pm to 9:15 pm on June 14 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1402 E. Kiehl Ave., Sherwood.
The choir of over 50 singers draws members from central Arkansas and western Tennessee to perform traditional and contemporary four-part a cappella music. The June 14 session will include a brief assessment of the positioning of the singing ranges, the assignment of a choir member to serve as a musical mentor, and refreshments. The program includes a show at the Women’s Expo in August at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds and several shows during the Christmas season. Visit topoftherockchorus.com.
FILM: “Baby Jane” on the big screen

A “revival” on the big screen on Sunday and June 15 marks the 60th anniversary of the 1962 cult classic “What ever happened to Baby Jane?” a psychological horror thriller about the height of sibling rivalry, in which an elderly child star (Bette Davis) “takes care” of her wheelchair-bound sister (Joan Crawford) in old Hollywood.

Winners of 2022 PBS KIDS Arkansas Writers Contest:

Grade K-3 students across the state submitted 93 entries. All 14 winning stories can be read online at myarpbs.org/writerscontest.
The writers will also read their stories by special segments during “Rise and Shine,” a six-week summer television series, starting July 6, produced by Arkansas PBS and the Arkansas Department of Education.
The judgment involved originality, creative expression, storytelling, and integrating text and illustrations, according to a press release. Each winner will receive an Arkansas PBS prize package; The top finishers will receive a PBS KIDS Playtime Pad, packed with educational games, music and videos.
