The Center on Asia and Globalization (CAG), at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, invites applications for a research grant in the field of International Relations with a focus on technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

Lee Kuan Yew School is a leading public policy school with an international faculty and student body. The CAG was founded in 2006 to provide accurate, independent, high-quality analysis on issues of regional and global importance to academia, decision makers, commentators and the general public. His current research agenda focuses on: the prospects of the regional and global order; the future of economic globalization / deglobalization and their impact on Asia; the alignment positions of Southeast Asia in an era of competition between superpowers; and the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on international politics (

Job description

The candidate will conduct independent, in-depth and fruitful research on issues within his or her expertise and contribute to the Center’s research on technology and artificial intelligence in international politics, including technonationalism and the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on US-China rivalry. . It is expected to initiate and organize research projects, workshops, conferences and other research events. He should be able to contact publishers and actively engage with academia, policy professionals, the media and business leaders, as well as apply for outside grants. Additionally, it is expected to play a role in coordinating with other researchers and contribute to the broader intellectual life of the center which focuses on Asia’s international relations.

  • A Ph.D. degree in Political Science / International Relations
  • Expertise in international relations aspects of technology and AI
  • An ability to engage with political and research communities in Singapore, Asia and around the world
  • A strong and demonstrated sense of academic independence and collegiality
  • The willingness to engage in interdisciplinary interactions in the School
