New Data Shows Significant Reduction in Symptoms of Depression and Anxiety for Members of Ontrak Health’s Innovative Wholehealth+ Program

Ontrak Health recently implemented the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 assessments to track changes in symptoms of depression and anxiety.

HENDERSON, Nevada, January 18, 2023–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ontrak, Inc. (NASDAQ: OTRK) (“Ontrak” or the “Company”), a leading artificial intelligence and telehealth-based healthcare company, today announced initial evaluation results showing that after six months, 30 percent of Ontrak Wholehealth+ members evaluated experienced a clinically significant reduction in anxiety symptoms and 55% claimed a clinically significant reduction in depressive symptoms. Ontrak Health is one of the only behavioral services companies of its kind to institute formal PHQ-9 and GAD-7 assessments to gain valuable insights into its members’ progress in mental health care and provide them with the support they need to manage their their symptoms, improve their overall well-being, and help healthcare professionals tailor treatment plans and interventions to meet each patient’s specific needs.

In June 2022 Ontrak Health implemented the widely accepted ratings PHQ-9 (a measure of severity of depression) and GAD-7 (a measure of severity of anxiety) as core measurements of its innovative health coaching model and Wholehealth+ program based on the evidence. While primarily used by providers, Ontrak Health has incorporated them into its coaching model to promote better tracking, collaboration, and accountability with its providers and customers.

Thousands of evaluations have been completed representing the results for more than 1,000 enrolled in the unique program. Ontrak care coaches conduct ongoing reassessments with members at regular intervals so scores can be tracked and monitored for symptom change.

Tracking a patient’s PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scores over time can be useful for:

  • Tracking Treatment Effectiveness: By tracking changes in rating scores over time, healthcare professionals can evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, as well as identify problems and take prompt action to resolve them.

  • Progress assessment: Trending assessment scores can help patients see progress over time. This can be especially helpful for patients who may have a history of chronic symptoms or are experiencing new mental health issues. Data can be a valuable source of information to optimize treatment.

“The inclusion of PHQ-9 and GAD-7 ratings in the Ontrak Wholehealth+ program is an important step in measuring mental health improvements for our members. Regularly assessing members’ PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scores can provide valuable information about our members’ advances in mental health care and help our providers tailor treatment plans to meet each member’s unique needs. Providing enrollees access to and interpretation of their assessment scores over time helps members better identify targeted mental health issues, leading to greater engagement in their treatment outcomes,” noted Judith Feld, MD, MPH , MMM, Chief Medical Officer, Ontrak Health.
