In the spirit of community and giving, Killam, in collaboration with Texas A&M International University, is excited to announce a partnership aimed at filling Dusty’s Food Pantry, the campus food pantry, to ensure that no student goes hungry or has most importantly to thrive. As part of this initiative, Killam will generously contribute funds to Dusty’s Food Pantry, coordinate drop-off locations with their display tenants throughout the city and set up a station for more donations at TAMIU’s free annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Thursday. November 30th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on the lawn in front of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.
To kick off the campaign, Killam launched a food drive featuring tenants at The Shoppes at Winfield, The Shoppes at Shiloh and Paseo Casa Blanca. Throughout the month of November, Killam Development’s plaza tenants will serve as designated drop-off locations for canned goods and non-perishables. These donations will directly contribute to Dusty’s Food Pantry, an important resource for TAMIU students facing food emergencies and financial hardship.

The TAMIU Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is a multi-tree lighting ceremony that marks the beginning of the holiday season. It features a special visit from Santa with music, carolers and performances by local artists. Free tasty seasonal treats and hot drinks will also be available courtesy of TAMIU and Killam.
“We are proud to partner with TAMIU to support Dusty’s Food Pantry and make a meaningful impact in the lives of students in need,” said Alejandra W. Martinez, vice president of marketing at Killam. “Our donation is just the beginning, and we invite the community to join us in this effort by dropping off food donations at our Killam Development Squares or during the TAMIU Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.”
Dusty’s Food Pantry, established in October 2017, plays a vital role in addressing food insecurity and well-being on the TAMIU campus, ensuring that students can focus on their education without the added anxiety of hunger or inadequate personal hygiene products , including dental care and hygiene items. During the 2022-2023 school year, Dusty’s Food Pantry supported 510 students, highlighting the critical need for continued community support.
