College Football Odds: Bettors claim surprise name to win Heisman

State of Ohio‘S CJ Stroud And Alabama‘S Bryce Young are two of college football’s leading quarterbacks, so it’s no surprise they’re preseason betting favorites to win the Heisman Trophy at FOX bet.

Young won Heisman last season and is looking to become the first repeat winner since Ohio State running back Archie Griffin in 1974-75. Stroud also had a great year, finishing fourth in the voting and is the returning player with the highest grades behind Young.

But, when it comes to gambling, a lesser known QB is generating a lot of betting action on a popular sportsbook. Let’s dive into the fun.

Currently, LSU Tigers quarterback Myles Brennan is leading both tickets and to win the Heisman Trophy at Caesars Sportsbook.

How much surprise is the QB? He may not even be the starting quarterback on his team this season.

The fifth year as a senior has only played 20 games in the past four seasons, starting only three games in 2021. He has 121 passes out of 201 (60.2%) for 1,712 yards, 13 touchdowns and six interceptions in his career.

And Brennan faces competition from Jayden Daniels, who joined LSU from the transfer portal after starting 28 games with Arizona State.

By way of comparison, Heisman 2019 winner Joe Burrow topped 403 of 527 (76.3%) for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns and six interceptions. In one season.

Brennan is gaining ground on Caesars Sportsbook and is currently +10000 (bet $ 10 to win $ 1,010 total) on FOX Bet.

So why all the hype about the QB who entered the transfer portal in November but changed his mind?

“College sports rule Louisiana and rightfully so,” said Craig Mucklow, vice president of trading at Caesars Sportsbook. “The audience that has taken the marquee QBs in a market dominated by QB winners in the past is no surprise and the Louisiana faithful are following their trust in these players with significant bets.

“We will be watching Brennan very closely throughout the season and we expect there will be more bets on him after his success on the pitch.”

Another striking shooting shot that has attracted a lot of Heisman’s attention on FOX Bet betting is American Alabama linebacker Will Anderson.

Anderson won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (best defender) and was named SEC Defender of the Year in 2021 after leading the nation with 17.5 sacks and 34.5 tackles per loss.

Historically, the only defender to win Heisman was Charles Woodson of Michigan in 1997. Woodson, now an analyst at FOX Sports, also returned kicks and took passes.

“Personally, I think Anderson has the best chance of winning Heisman over any defender in the last decade,” said FOX Bet Sports trader AJ Devine. “He’s just an absolute monster.”
